Master of Sport

For the Athletes of the New Age

The benefits of sports are endless!

Sports teaches children about sportsmanship and learning to accept defeat at times.

To really achieve, athletes are required to maintain discipline which is in turn transferred to so many other parts of their lives.

Sports teaches teamwork and cooperation while giving children a sense of belonging and an opportunity to make new friends.

While they get more active and improve their fitness their self esteem will fly through the roof!

Ballet

Enrolling a young dancer into a ballet class goes well beyond the beautiful visual aspect of the art!

Ballet dancers become comfortable performing in front of an audience. This is a skill that lasts a lifetime. In ballet class, children will be asked to follow instructions, develop a strong attention to detail, remain focused, and extend his or her attention span. Critical thinking skills are sharpened during each training and performance.

As the dancer is faced with increasingly difficult skills, exercises, and combinations to perform, they will learn just how much difference hard work makes toward his or her ability to succeed. The sense of dedication will stay with your child and extend beyond the dance studio.

Due to ballet training, children develop long, lean, flexible muscles. This will help him or her remain free from muscle pain. Flexibility is also a key component in injury and pain prevention, so the flexibility the children gain in a ballet class will benefit them and their body for years.

Basketball

Basketball allows children to incorporate frequent physical activity into their daily routines and contributes to overall physical well-being and fitness.

We focus on dribbling, throwing, catching and pivoting. Beginning basketball training at a young age improves gross motor skills by using major muscle groups and fine motor skills such as hand-eye coordination. Young children who play basketball improve flexibility and endurance and the motor skills they gain along the way transfer to other activities of daily life.

Psychologically, playing with a team allows children to make friends and feel involved while improving the child’s ability to communicate and solve basic problems. Basketball teaches children social skills and coping strategies that are useful at school, home and in peer relationships.

Dance

Regular dance practice increases children’s flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. The repetitive movements improve muscle tone, correct poor posture, increase balance and coordination and improve overall cardiovascular health.

Dancing is a highly social activity. Dance lessons help children improve their social and communication skills, learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and alleviate fears related to performing in front of an audience.

Dance is a perfect creative outlet which balances the freedom of movement with instruction and rules. Becoming a skilled dancer requires practice, discipline and focus, which are all skills that can be useful in other areas of your child’s life.

As children adjust to the movements and postures required in dance, they begin to get a better sense of their bodies. As they become more comfortable in their own skin, their confidence and self-esteem also improve.

Gymnastics

While always focusing on the core skills such as strength, flexibility, balance, co-ordination and jumping, we start by introducing rolls, cartwheels, handstands, and vaulting.

Our intermediate level students learn round off, back flips and handstand flatback vault. A higher degree of focus is on strength and flexibility development, and body conditioning.

At advanced level we focus on tumbling, handspring vault and more difficult floor skills, while increasing the focus on strength, flexibility and body conditioning.

Karate

Part art form, part sport – look no further than karate!

Goal setting is one of the key learnings from karate. Advancing from a white to a black belt takes practice, dedication and discipline. Karate’s true purpose is self-defense which is a valuable life skill.

To successfully execute a sequence, a karate student needs confidence. Each class builds up the student’s skills, but the student must take the initiative to commit to confidently execute each action. Children’s confidence will increase as he or she masters karate and moves up in belts. This confidence stays with them through schooling, and allows him or her to develop strong friendships and maintain a positive view of themselves.

The discipline and focus required to advance in martial arts training can yield many benefits in everyday life. Although many of the benefits of martial arts for kids remain anecdotal, a few have been subjects of clinical analysis, while others can be generalized from the benefits of martial arts for adults.

Soccer

Soccer is a great exercise that improves cardiovascular health, increases coordination, improves strength and enhances flexibility. Our students benefit from a boost in self-confidence and self-esteem while gaining confidence in themselves.

Along with the aspect of physical activity which is so very important for our upcoming generation, soccer fosters teamwork and cooperation while teaching children sportsmanship.

Students will learn key skills like passing, dribbling, shooting and change of direction distance and space.

Yoga

Yoga is simple and simply amazing for kids!

The benefits of yoga are extensive and include an increase in concentration, lower stress levels, improvement of body control and awareness and a  reduced risk of injury. Because yoga is non-competitive, it can be done in groups of individuals with very different athletic abilities. While it is important for kids to experience appropriate competitive environments, it’s very important to offer activities where kids don’t have the pressure to win or compare themselves to others.

When children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfillment, they can navigate life’s challenges a little bit easier. Yoga encourages self-esteem and body awareness while fostering cooperation and compassion.

Physically, yoga enhances children’s flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them and yoga brings that inner light that all children have to the surface.

Unless otherwise stated, our programs are not generally offered to the general public but rather in conjunction with, and exclusively for students of, our private school partners.

CAMPS

This program can be used alone, or in combination with any other Masterplan AcadeME activity.

Our camps can be offered as part of the already existing holiday program organised by the school itself, or we can take care of the entire process, from planning to booking to ensuring each day of camp is the best one the student has ever had.

CLUBS

In partnership with private international schools, all of our programs are available as supplementary or after-school enrichment clubs, or as a primary topic for one-off project weeks.

We ensure that collaboration, leadership and mindfulness exercises are integrated into the curriculum where possible and appropriate.

We also offer a proprietary booking system to partner schools.
